This date and these times will afford us an opportunity to experience both sun rise and sun set for this day as well a moon rise.. Meeting location well be at the Basket Slough National Wildsife Refure on COVILLE Road (gravel) road that connects Hwy 22 & Hwy 99. See map below.


From the junction of Hwys 99W & 22 take Hwy 22 as if headed to the coast. At the intersection of Hwy 22 and 223 (Kings Valley Highway - the road heads back into Dallas) take a right. Then take an immediate right and you will be headed back in the same direction you came, paralleling Hwy 22. Stay on this road and it will turn into a gravel road. This is COVILLE Road. Continue on COVILLE Road where you will be going downhill. At the bottom of the hill (downgrade) you will see a large pond on your left. This is were we are going to meet. There is lots of parking on both sides of the road.

Please NOTE! There are NO bathroom facilities at this location. There are facilities at the Basket Slough Observation point that is on Hwy 22 just before you get to the turn off to COVILLE Road.

Also when leaving this location you might find it easier to continue on COVILLE Road to Hwy 99 for your trip home. That way you will NOT have to make a left hand turn back on to hwy 22. Plus there is a lot more to see on the rest of COVILLE Road. Of course this might not be the case if you stay late in the evening since the sun will have set.
